The Naturally Occurring Antioxidant - Resveratrol

A naturally occurring antioxidant that is found in several plants like blueberries and red grapes is known as Resveratrol. Some constituents of the Resveratrol are also found in peanuts. The studies and experiments done on the antioxidant have shown that this phytoalexin facilitates the blood vessels to become more flexible in nature and also helps in reducing the tackiness of blood platelets. Due to its presence in the red grapes, it is recommended that red wine is much more valuable than the white whine. Approximately three milligrams of Resveratrol is available in 150 ml of red wine and 73 mcg in 1 gram of peanuts.

Several mouse experiments have also been carried out till date on Resveratrol and it has been found that Resveratrol is a powerful component in decreasing the affect of cancer in animals. In addition to this, it also acts as an anti inflammatory agent in the animals. If the intake of Resveratrol is restricted to 200 – 600 mcg per day, it can also lessen the formation of plaque in the human brain. Resveratrol has also resulted in the lessening of heart diseases as well. Red Wine cannot assume to be a cure for heart diseases, but Resveratrol supplements can be of a great assistance for the purpose.
